About Abigail Yeh, MT-BC
Abigail Yeh, MT-BC, is a professionally trained, board-certified music
therapist in private practice. She provides outreach music therapy,
in-services, and workshops at various facilities.
After graduating with a Bachelor's of Science in
Music Therapy at the State University of New York at Fredonia, Abigail
completed an extensive 12-month internship at The
Rebecca Center for Music Therapy, New York's leading music
therapy provider. At The Rebecca Center she was trained in
Child-Centered Music Therapy, while learning Nordoff-Robbins theory and
clinical foundations. Although Abigail's specialization and primary
focus is with children diagnosed within the autistic spectrum, she has
a wide range of clinical experience providing individual and group
music therapy to special needs children and adolescents, people
afflicted with HIV/AIDS and substance abuse, adults with severe to
profound developmental disabilities, elderly clients living with
Alzheimer's and Dementia, and at-risk youth.
In addition to Abigail's diverse clinical
experience, she also co-directed The Rebecca Center's program
development, performing various administrative duties such as grant
research, grant proposal writing, co-authoring The Center's annual
report, and participating in pivotal development meetings with outside
agencies and prominent healthcare facilities. In addition, she assisted
in creating The Center's policies and procedures, and maintained the
daily administration of the on-site clinic at Molloy College.
She has provided lectures and in-services to other
music therapy professionals, interdisciplinary staff and direct care
workers throughout New York. In the spring of 2005, the Fredonia
College Foundation awarded Abigail the first annual Constance
E. Willeford Award for Music Therapy.
In the summer of 2005, Abigail relocated to
Gainesville and founded Gainesville Music Therapy,
Gainesville's first Child-Centered Music Therapy
clinic. In addition, she consults with facilities and
organizations in the area in developing music therapy
outreach programs for a variety of populations.
Abigail Yeh is a member of the American Music Therapy
Association.
